LOCAL LAND SERVICES

Aboriginal Knowledge Hub Educational Video Series

01. What

Ribbon Gang collaborated closely with Local Land Services (LLS) to deliver a culturally safe, strategically led video series as part of the launch of their Aboriginal Knowledge Hub, a new internal platform designed to educate and empower staff across NSW. We guided the full communications strategy, from concept through to content, ensuring the final work honoured Indigenous knowledge while aligning to LLS’s internal training goals and government standards.

02. How

The Challenge:

LLS needed to produce a culturally appropriate suite of educational content across five Indigenous cultural themes. This content had to be authentic, informative, accessible, and created in partnership with Aboriginal Elders and subject matter experts, all within a tight EOFY deadline.

Why Ribbon Gang:

LLS engaged Ribbon Gang for a trusted partner to help shape the message, develop culturally sensitive storytelling frameworks, and manage communications between internal stakeholders, community representatives, and creatives. Our proven track record delivering government-aligned creative projects, paired with our collaborative, transparent approach, made us the natural fit.

Constraints & Goals:

  • Multi-site filming with Elder and staff participation
  • Strategic alignment with Aboriginal Knowledge Hub's learning framework
  • NSW Government branding, accessibility & format requirements
  • 5 core themes requiring distinct narratives and expert consultation
  • Pre-June project and invoice completion

Our Approach

Strategic Communication & Cultural Advisory:

We began with deep discovery sessions with LLS’s Aboriginal Engagement team to understand the sensitivities, knowledge gaps, and internal training goals. From there, we developed tailored messaging frameworks and storyboards for each video, consulting with Elders and stakeholders to validate tone, theme and focus.

Creative & Technical Execution:

  • Filming Locations: Singleton, Orange, Wagga Wagga
  • Key Voices: Elder Uncle Warren Taggart, Aboriginal LLS staff and advisors
  • Technical Specs: 4K video, drone footage, high-res stills, and SRT files
  • Branding: Applied NSW Government’s visual and accessibility standards across all content
  • Topics Covered: Sorry Business, Men’s & Women’s Business, Cultural Safety, Cultural Sites & Objects, Welcome & Acknowledgement

Value-Adds:

  • Provided high-res photography for broader comms use
  • Delivered raw and packaged B-roll footage for future campaigns
  • Supported interview talent with coaching and cultural sensitivity

"Ribbon Gang understood not just what we needed to make, but why we needed to make it. Their ability to bridge cultural storytelling with government delivery was invaluable.”
